General

What is the Project Management Day of Service?

   The Project Management Day of Service (PMDoS) is a FREE one-day problem-solving event where charities and not-for-profit organizations are matched with project management professionals.  Together participants will discuss and diagnose a critical problem and then scope out a project to help address and overcome the issue.

Who is responsible for PMDoS?

The PMDoS is the signature event of PMI Sydney and Project Management for Change (PM4Change), a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise the profile of the Project Management profession while furthering the missions of the non-profit and charities in our local communities.
When is the event? Monday 2nd November 2020 from 9 am to 4 pm

Can I park at the venue?

While parking is available in the CBD, public transport is highly recommended

Will the event be compliant with the COVID safety rules

The event will be held in the University premises and the health guidelines will be strictly adhered to

What happens if a restriction to hold face to face events is once again imposed

We have a contingency plan to hold a virtual event should face to face events restrictions is imposed. Details will be communicated to the participants as required.

 

 

 

Charities and Not-for-Profits

What kinds of charity or not-for-profit will we be helping?

  

Any small to large charity or not-for-profit in Sydney.

What preparation will the charity or not-for-profit undertake?

They will need to complete the initiative statement that outlines the issue they are looking for assistance with.  They will also be requested to be available the week before the event to attend a conference call initiated by the consulting team lead.

Feedback for Charities on last year’s event?

Organizations from the 2018 events have reported successful implementation of the tools and/or guidance obtained from the event.  A listing of the details of these achievements is being prepared for publication.
     

 

Professionals

If I am a project administrator can I join PMDoS Sydney as a consultant?   

Yes you can join PMDoS Sydney because your skills will be very valuable on the day.

I’m thinking about volunteering what do I need to do?

Get yourself signed up with our team by entering your contact information HERE or sending an email to pmdos@pmisydney.org. You will need to submit your resume or LinkedIn profile as we do review resumes and qualifications.  We want to pair you up with an initiative that would benefit from your experience.

What does the cost include?

This is a free event that includes your meals and refreshments for the day and a whole lot of fun sharing your expert knowledge and giving back your professional services to the community.

Do I get PDU’s?

8 PDU’s will automatically be assigned to your PMI membership after the event.

Can I choose the charity that I want to work with on the day?

Unfortunately not. The PMDoS committee will match each consultant’s skills in each charity project.  We have certain criteria that we must look to fulfill on each table which also guide our pairing decisions.  Finally, we want to do our best to spread all of you around to the tables to achieve the best outcome for all our charities and not-for-profits!

As a registered consultant, what do I need to prepare?

Once you have been told about the organization you will be working for you can start to review their Initiative Statement to learn about the issues they are facing. Research the organization, and have a conference call with them before the event to get started on your ideas.

How can I attend the required PMDoS Sydney training?

Once you have been selected or on the waiting list, you will be notified of the training details through email.

What can I bring?

You are welcome to bring any materials that you feel will be of value to you on the Day, for example:

  • Laptop
  • Documentation templates
  • USB - A thumb drive

Should I bring food and drink?

Not necessary!  There is a morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea.  Water will be provided at the table.

How does a project professional get matched with a charity or not-for-profit?

We match project professionals with the most appropriate (best fit) charity or not-for-profit organization and their initiative or problem. Matches are based on information submitted during the application process, including subject matter expertise, and experience stated in your LinkedIn profile or resume. Some project professionals will be reserved as contingency to replace a confirmed participant is not able to participate due to unforeseen circumstances.

Do you notify the project professional of the charity or not-for-profit assignment?

 Yes, all the team members will know their client before the Day.

How many will be in each team?

There will be up to 4 Project Manager and business analysts Volunteers and 2 to 3 representatives from a single charity or not-for-profit organisation. The same team will work together throughout the day.

Who assigns the roles within the team?

We will initially assign the roles; however, the team can mutually agree on their roles once they start working with each other

 What happens after the PMDoS Sydney?  There are no commitments after PMDoS.  However, if you would like to continue to work with a charity or not-for-profit organization at the conclusion of the event, please email pmdos@pmisydney.org and indicate the best time to reach you.  A member of our team will contact you..

 

Sponsors

As a sponsor can I attend the event? What do I get for my sponsorship?   

Of course, you can attend and discuss your products with the event attendees and showcase your products with silver or higher sponsorship. Please refer to the sponsorship packages to determine the value you will receive from becoming a sponsor.

Is my sponsorship tax deductible?   

PMISC is not a registered charity and so you cannot claim a charitable donation. Sponsorship should qualify as a marketing expense and you may be able to claim a GST credit as well. Please consult the ATO site for further information.

How long does my sponsorship last?   

Your sponsorship lasts until the event and for a period of 1 month after the event.
