Professional Development

Marcel is a seasoned operator with 11 years’ experience managing project teams, programs and PMOs. He has over 16 years’ multi-disciplinary experience working at senior management levels executing global strategies and implementing multi-national business transformation programs to re-engineer processes and capabilities. His career started in Commercial Management – pricing, cost management and policy before evolving to project management and implementation of IT systems. Along the way he has also worked in Customer Experience and IT management teams.

Marcel is a Prince2 practioner with 8 years’ experience in program management and managing PMOs to deliver organisation-wide global transformation programmes in the logistics and transport sector. He directed an Enterprise PMO overseeing over 2100 project implementations in more than 60 countries. Marcel is conversant in several project management methodologies, as well as process improvement doctrines such as EFQM, ID4 and Six Sigma.

After sometime abroad, he returned to Sydney, joined the PMI and began his active membership in the Sydney Chapter. Previously he volunteered as an Associate Director for Academic Outreach before being elected to the Sydney Chapter Board of Directors. Marcel enjoys wines and is a PADI certified diver.

“I passionately believe in community activism and sharing what I have learned with others. I have been fortunate to have been exposed to a multitude of cultures and management styles, and given opportunities to practice project management on a world stage. Those insights have been invaluable to my career and helped me realise that the future for our profession has some exciting growth trajectories which I would like to be a proponent for. I feel I should attempt to pay-forward some of what I have learned and experienced with the community and my profession.

I am excited to see the calibre of people devoting themselves to PMISC and I believe our membership is uniquely placed to be strong role-models to our profession. I have come to realise that the PMI global brand, is only as strong as the activities we deliver and celebrate locally in our chapters. I am unashamedly indoctrinated with a strong customer centric ethic and that means I approach delivery challenges with a product & services prism. If my background, experience, and work ethic can strengthen PMISC further, I am only too willing to devote my time and efforts to this NSW community.

As Director for Professional Development my focus is on providing a syllabus that offers to all our members the opportunity to improve themselves further with the help of the Talent Triangle framework. The mission of the Professional Development team is simple:

To consistently deliver training courses, education workshops and a mentoring program that our members value. Continuously learn to improve the quality and delivery of our courses, and develop new workshops, extra courses, and frameworks that can prove to enhance the customer’s experience further.
