Career Development

Preparing students for the transition to industry

Through roadshows, panel discussions and skills-focused workshops, we help students understand how project management principles apply across industries and research — preparing them for a seamless transition from university to professional practice.

Student Clubs & Societies

A clear path from student society to official branch

PMI Sydney Chapter supports and partners with student-led project management clubs across universities — recognised through formal agreements, governance, and integration with the Chapter's outreach strategy. Depending on the university, clubs typically progress through three stages:

Stage 01 — Supported University Clubs Existing student societies formalise a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with PMI Sydney Chapter.

Stage 02 — Chapter Student Clubs New clubs created and governed in partnership with PMI Sydney Chapter, often drawing students from multiple universities.

Stage 03 — Student Branches Well-established, student-led clubs with university sponsorship, supported by our Academic Outreach team year to year.

Why It Matters

Project management is more than a profession — it's a life skill. Engaging with students and academics encourages future leaders to view research, learning and careers through a project lens. Our initiatives highlight how structured methods, stakeholder engagement, and adaptability are keys to succeeding in today's dynamic environment.
