Session Summary:
Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues have increasingly become significant for companies, especially in the past five years. Consumers now expect businesses to uphold high standards of sustainability and quality employment. Additionally, regulators and policy makers are placing greater emphasis on ESG as they seek corporate assistance in addressing social issues such as workers' rights, protection, and workplace diversity. The investor community has also displayed a heightened interest, recognizing its potential in addressing climate change. In the United States alone, approximately $12 trillion, equivalent to a quarter of the total assets under management, is invested in ESG-rated investments.
It is firmly believed that ESG principles are integral to humans' survival in the modern age and will continue to hold significance. However, there are still significant questions regarding how organizations can adopt and adapt to ESG principles to become more dynamic and responsible in an ever-changing business environment. The absence of a standardized reporting framework further compounds this dilemma. As time and options run short, the world is actively seeking practical solutions to address these challenges. This presentation aims to provide an understanding of various ESG frameworks, including SDG-17, MDG, and UNPRIs, as well as practical examples of their implementation in real-life setting.
