ONLINE: PMI SC - Your Project isn't Telling You the Truth

Ways of Working

🎯 Event Overview

Most projects don’t fail suddenly; they drift off course quietly.

In many organisations, leaders rely on dashboards, reports and “green” indicators to assess project health. Yet these tools often provide a false sense of control. They highlight activity, but rarely expose vulnerability. Critical risks develop outside formal reporting structures, and by the time they appear, it is often too late to respond effectively.

In this thought-provoking session, Matthew Oleniuk will challenge conventional project reporting and reveal why the signals that matter most are often invisible in dashboards and slide decks. Drawing on real-world public sector experience, this session will explore how early warning signs emerge, why teams miss them, and how project instability takes root unnoticed.

Participants will gain practical insights into how to detect subtle indicators of project distress early, ask better questions, and surface the uncomfortable truths that can prevent project failure.

Learning Objectives

In this session, participants will learn:

  • Why traditional reporting frameworks often hide early warning signs
  • What leaders typically miss until it is too late
  • The early patterns that indicate a project is entering dangerous territory
  • How dashboards and routine reporting create blind spots
  • Practical ways to surface hidden risks and address issues before they escalate

Who Should Attend

This session is ideal for:

  • Project and program managers
  • PMO and delivery professionals
  • Transformation and change leaders
  • Senior executives and decision-makers
  • Governance, audit, and oversight professionals

If you are responsible for delivery, governance, or decision-making in projects, this session will challenge how you interpret project health.

Matthew Oleniuk is a former senior public-sector executive with more than 15 years of experience overseeing major government projects. He has seen firsthand how critical issues often remain invisible to leadership, and how underlying team dynamics and hidden risks can quietly place projects on the path to failure.

Through his work as The Risk Insider, Matthew helps leaders uncover what dashboards miss, detect risks earlier, and lead complex projects with greater clarity and confidence. His approach focuses on identifying the subtle signals of instability before they escalate into major issues, enabling organisations to reduce late-stage surprises and improve delivery outcomes.
