Artificial intelligence is changing the way we build, decide, and lead at a pace few organisations are prepared for. Productivity metrics are climbing. Delivery cycles are shrinking. Yet beneath the promise of efficiency, important questions are emerging.
What we plan to dig into:
The productivity mirage. AI tripled the code output and quadrupled the defects. What "faster" is actually costing us, and who owns quality when the machine writes it.
The accountability gap. When AI drafts the code, the story, or the decision, who is answerable when it goes wrong? Ethics needs a clear owner, not responsibility quietly diffused into the tool.
Where Agile lost its moral compass. How a movement founded on people and interactions drifted, and what it would take to find the way back.
Ethics as a leadership discipline, not a slide. The governance and guardrails corporate and government teams genuinely need before AI scales past them.
Coaching through the contraction. Staying useful, honest, and employable while the ground shifts under the profession.

Alex Sloley

Alex Sloley is an agile and product management leader. On top of his busy career working in companies around the world, he is an avid member of the agile community and published his book “The Agile Community” in 2022. He speaks regularly on the global stage. Alex was the Scrum Alliance Shepherd of the global Agile Coaching Retreat Advisor Team, a alumnus of the Scrum Alliance Coaching Advisory Team, an alumnus of the Agile Alliance Reimagining Agile Team, is a Co-Chair of the Agile Alliance Agile Coaching Ethics Initiative Team, and is a Director on the board of the International Association of Facilitators Oceania. Alex is also a 15-year veteran of Microsoft, where he was a Scrum Master, Scrum of Scrums Master, and Product Manager. |

Shane Hastie is the Global Lead for Agile, AI, Business Analysis & Leadership at Skills Development Group, delivering professional development courses across a wide range of disciplines including agile, leadership, business analysis, product management and facilitation. With more than 40 years of experience, he has led and coached developers, testers, project managers and business analysts, helping organisations improve software delivery, business outcomes and organisational capability. He is also an ICF Accredited Coach (ACC), supporting individuals and teams through professional coaching. Previously, Shane served in senior leadership roles at ICAgile, where he helped shape agile education and foster a global community of practitioners. Shane is also the co-author of #NoProjects and The Rock Crusher. |
