PMI Sydney Toastmasters is one of Toastmasters International clubs Improve your public speaking skills in a safe, fun and open environment What we'll do Presentation skills and confidence can both be learned. Practicing these in a supportive, open and fun environment where you can learn from a variety of other speakers is invaluable. Here you will: - Gain hands-on tips and techniques on public speaking and leadership abilities - Learn from other members prepared speeches and evaluations - Participate in short impromptu speech sessions (optional) - Feel welcome and find out more about our club and friendly club members. No previous experience required. Visiting the club for the first time is free of charge. Club officers are happy to support and provide detailed information if you are interested to be a member of the club going forward. Currently, the club's membership fee is A$90 per 6 months plus a joining fee. During Covid-19 restrictions, the meeting venue limits attendance to a maximum of 14 people. After careful consideration, the PMI Toastmasters Club will limit the maximum number of visitors to 4 per meeting in a face-to-face meeting. However, PMI TM is happy to announce that we will offer hybrid meetings from 5 August 2020 onwards. If you wish to join our meeting via Zoom, there will be no limit to the number of attendees. Please note that all visitors must email vppr@pmisydneytoastmasters.org or RSVP the event directly on Meetup before each meeting. Contracts should not live in the ‘bottom drawer’ PART 2 24 September 2020 Live Online Webinar Contracts should not live in the ‘bottom drawer’. They should: • be fit for purpose; • drafted in plain unambiguous language; and • provide – to the extent that time permits – a plan to address for all likely issues that will arise. A much better contract results from a collaborative effort between the lawyers and those instructing them. In this two-part presentation Mark and Ashley will (i) survey issues that commonly arise when contracts are being drafted and (ii) look at the contractual issues when things go wrong. The presentation will be presented on-line which will limit audience interaction but audience participation is very much encouraged - either through questions posed during the presentation or, better still, before the presentation starts. The presentation will be very practical with observations and tips drawn from case studies and Mark and Ashley’s own experiences. Your Presenters Mark Allen Ashley Cheng Mark Allen Mark is a corporate, commercial and IP lawyer. Before founding Aperion Law five years ago, Mark had been a partner of two leading Sydney law firms. He has over 35 years’ experience representing companies engaged in a wide variety of business enterprises all which have needed contracts, often for novel activities. Mark has worked on both managed service agreements and large scale hardware supply/software development contracts. Ashley Cheng Ashley is a corporate and commercial lawyer, holding degrees from UNSW and a Master in Law and Finance from Oxford. He has experience in providing legal advice to local and international clients on mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting and negotiation, litigation and dispute resolution.
