Why?

“How do you get a role without experience – how do you get experience without a role” This event will help career starters take those first steps into project management by answering this and many more questions.

Structure:

A series of short talks about the challenges of breaking into this competitive industry and how to overcome them. 

You’ll meet with professional recruiters, like minded professionals and hear more about how the PMI can assist you in your career in Project Management including the PMI Mentoring program!

There will also be a special presentation by LinkedIn advising on how to get the most out of your LinkedIn Profile page and online brand.

The speakers:

Project Managers that faced those challenges recently.  They will share their experiences, challenges and how they overcame them.  Professional Project practitioner recruiters with tips and tricks regarding your market brand and LinkedIn profile. 

Speaker: Aline Sarreta, Project Co-ordinator, Ausgrid

Aline has a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis on Telecommunications. With over a decade of administrative and management experience, she has been working in large and global organization. Possessing vast expertise in transition and transformation projects, she has excellent time management skills and is very organized. Aline is a Brazilian by heart and residing in Australia since 2015.

Speaker: Mohammad Umar Khalid, Project Manager, Ausgrid

Mohammad Umar Khalid (Moh or Umar) comes from construction background as a Civil Engineer where he experienced roots of project management for three years while managing projects on site as Project Engineer and in office as Project Lead. He acquired his formal project management education during his Masters at Curtin University Sydney Campus. Since then, he has been working in IT Project Management space for the past four years. He is very well organised in delivering projects through his fastidious aptitude towards thorough planning, meticulous execution and precise tracking.

Speaker: Vivek Krishna Prasad, Project Manager, Ausgrid

Headline: I am an eccentric personal productivity geek with a relentless drive for getting things done as a vocation; in the technology Project Management domain by profession. An avid reader at heart, I also find solace in the sights and sounds of nature. My last tryst with adventure was two years ago when I rode my vintage Royal Enfield across the Himalayas.

I believe that there is more to life than what meets the eye and in Eleanor Roosevelt's immortal words: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."

Speaker: My Tran Le, PMI Australia Project Manager of the Year winner and Senior Project Manager, JDA Software Group

My has over fourteen years of professional experience across retail and supply chain. She has successfully implemented a number of projects across merchandise planning; logistics; replenishment; store operations; e-commerce and business intelligence. She was awarded the PMI National Project Manager of the Year award at the inaugural PMI Australia conference.

My spends her past time volunteering for PMISC and FiTT. She is passionate about project management and she has been an associate director for PMI's Building Better Futures Schools Outreach program. As an associate director, she worked with a number of schools within Sydney region and supported students with project management education at an early age.

In her downtime, she enjoys reading and traveling; experiencing different cultures around the world.

Speaker: Katie Clinch, Customer Success Manager, LinkedIn

South-West London raised and currently living in the heart of Sydney, Katie is a Customer Success Manager who has a personal mission of building the best relationships with her clients. Starting her career back in 2007 within the Health and Fitness industry she quickly learnt that any successful company must strive and aim to constantly improve their level of customer service.

Now working for LinkedIn, she is loving her job. They work to a mission of “Creating economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce” whilst internally they promote a culture of Integrity, Collaboration, Transformation, Humor and Results. Katie takes pride with her ability to work with others, think strategically, and ultimately bring enthusiasm and fun to every project she works on. She is passionate about employer branding and building a positive reputation to attract and retain talent through different strategic techniques.
