Breakfast Event: The Foundation of Influence Equity

The Foundation of Influence Equity

Leadership is about influence, nothing more, nothing less (John Maxwell)

Do you wish you had a greater ability to influence the people in your world? Those stakeholders who have set views on what should happen? The team members who don’t report to you. Managers who don’t seem to get the key points that you’re attempting to convey to them?

If this is you, then this session is for you!

There are multiple ways to get people to do things – force, manipulation, begging, hoping … Of them all, influence is the one that is most likely to deliver sustainable results.

Leadership and communication literature provides hundreds of models and thousands of pages on how to influence others. But at the heart of it all is a very simple model – what we might call the “Influence Equity Model”. In PMI terminology we could depict it like this:

INPUT Tools and Techniques OUTPUT
Ethos (character)
?
Your ability to influence stakeholders into intended actions, both consciously and subconsciously.
Pathos (‘relationship’)
Logos (logic, reasoning)

This session will briefly introduce you to the three elements of the model, key tools and techniques related to each, and the seven steps involved in building your influence equity. We will focus specifically on ethos, the foundation of sustainable success as an influencer.

the steps anyone can take to lay a foundation of sustainable success as a person of influence.

What you will receive (in addition to the normal benefits related to attending a PMI event

- Insight and inspiration

- A simple framework to enhance you ability to influence

- Resources to help you take the next step towards greater influence

Influence equity refers to the influence capital we have acquired; the higher our influence equity, the greater our ability to successfully engage with our stakeholders.
