Train the Trainer (Facilitator Workshop)

Sunday 17 March and Sunday 24 March 2019

ONLY AVAILABLE TO VOLUNTEERS WILLING TO TRAIN OTHERS AT PMI EVENTS

TWO DAYS (ON THE WEEKEND) - 16 HOURS

The Professional Development Group of PMI Sydney Chapter conducts training sessions for members and others throughout the year.  The training sessions are either:

• 3 hour evening tutorials (in blocks of two), or
• weekend all day sessions (which can be either Saturday or Sunday, or both days.

We do not conduct training sessions during the working week and we leave that to offers from our Registered Education Providers.

This results in the need for volunteer trainers to conduct training sessions in:

• PMP® Project Management Professional
• CAPM®  Certified Associate in Project Management 
• PgMP®  Program Management Professional
• PfPM®  Portfolio Management Professional
• PMI-ACP®  Agile Certified Practitioner
• PMI-RBA®  Risk Management Practitioner
• PMI-PBA®  Professional Business Analyst
• PMI-SP®  Project Scheduling Professional

Who should apply?

If you have an interest in conveying your expert knowledge to other people in the industry, helping to develop others, improving your own understanding of your profession, or puting a training skill in your toolkit; then please come along and join the team of volunteer trainers.

Prerequisites

For each of our courses, we ask that you be certified in the course that you are going to facilitate.  If you already hold vocational training qualifications (eg Cert IV in Training and Assessment) we would be prepared to waive the certification in the short term, providing you intend to sit the certification exam in the next 6 months.

Participant Course Handout Materials

All participants receive course material during the course as a reference.  Coaching of each attendde occurs during and after the workshop.

There are also opportunities to present material to peers during the workshop, so you can self-select out of the program, if it is not for you.

Facilitators

The classes are presented by PMI certified trainers who are well experienced in their field.   Our trainers bring a wealth of knowledge and practice to the table helping you to uplift your capability to achieve excellence results.

The Venue

Sydney CBD - King Street (within a short walking distance of the Wynyard railway station)

Dates and Registration

The course is conducted over two consecutive Sundays from 9am to about 5pm.   Go to the Events on the website to apply and register. Please provide a resume in your application using the Volunteer Registration Management System (VRMS) or you can contact Richard Hemsworth at development@pmisydney.org or Richard Stejer at certification@pmisydney.org to arrange a confidential chat and ask any questions.  

Learning Outcomes

In this course, you will learn how to:

• Use question techniques to engage the students
• Design lessons to ensure maximum productiveity adn benefit for your students
• Investigate your and others learning styles and how that impacts learning
• What the difference is between lecture, presentation adn facilitation
• Gain  theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to be an effective trainer
• Learn the principles and practices of facilitation and enagement
• Identify and recognise the various types of students and their preferred approach to learning
• Complete presentations to peers and receive constructive feedback on your own facilitation skills

PDU Information:

You will be elegible for up to 16 PDUs.
