PMI Action Learning Group Action Learning is a powerful approach for working on real life problems. It is defined as: A continuous process of learning and reflection that happens with the support of a group of colleagues, working with real problems, with the intention of getting things done. (McCormack et al 2004). Action learning is a powerful tool to improve performance, promote learning, and position individuals and organisations to adapt better in turbulent and complex times. While originating in the UK, Action Learning is used worldwide including government, large corporates, small and medium business as well as not for profits. Action learning brings together a group of participants consisting of real project managers working on real problems in a real time-frame, looking for real solutions using action learning techniques. Each member of the group is as important as every other member and each has a contribution to make. It is a conversation space, focused on goal setting, deepening awareness around real key issues, taking action, and accountability. Each member benefits from the collective wisdom of the group. Action Learning is a facilitated process that includes structure while working on real life challenges and at the same time walking away with learnings. Weekly sessions concluding 22 December 2020 PMI Members: $1,150 Non PMI Members: $1,500 Your Facilitator Silvia de Ridder is Managing Director of Unconscious Potential. Silvia is a Professional Certified Individual and Team Coach, Certified Action Learning Facilitator and Trainer. She works with organisations in the areas of leadership and people development as well as organisational change. What makes Silvia unique and well positioned to add value is the combination of coaching, facilitation and people change capability with a background in engineering and program/project management. Silvia brings a level of knowing to the training and coaching of engineers, project managers, IT and technical personnel to develop business and behavioural skills. Silvia has an understanding of not only the technical challenges as well as the human elements of project leadership. Silvia describes herself as an Engineer of Human Excellence. PMI Sydney Chapter Evening Event : New Proposed Sydney Chapter By-laws 01 December 2020 PMI Sydney Chapter invites financial members only, to participate and vote to approve the By-laws. The Chapter Legal Committee in consultation with our PMI Global Operations Centre (GOC) in Singapore have drafted and reviewed proposed bylaw changes to improve the governance of the Chapter and to better align with New South Wales Government legislation and regulation. The proposed changes have been reviewed and voted upon by the PMISC Board of Directors and are now available for member review. For the By-laws to be implemented we require our financial members to ratify the changes at a special event. Meeting details (Times are in AEDT) Date: Tuesday 1st December 2020 Start: 6:15 pm for a 6:30 pm start. End: 8:30 pm (depending on number of items for discussion / debate) Venue: Review and voting will be held virtually via Zoom. Meeting Agenda (Times are in AEDT) 6:15 pm – 6:30 pm: President’s Opening / Ground rules for meeting / General Q&A / Identification of Members attending and eligible to vote 6:30 pm – 6:50 pm: Identification of areas of the proposed bylaw changes for clarification / discussion / debate 6:50 pm – 8:10 pm: Member clarification / discussion / debate / motions (President & Legal Committee Representative) 8:10 pm – 8:15 pm: Motion to accept bylaw changes 8:15 pm – 8:20 pm: Member draw for $500 gift voucher 8:20 pm – 8:30 pm: Wrap Up & Meeting Close The proposed bylaws can be found via our Chapter website Home / About Us / Chapter Elections menu (ensure you are logged in or you will not be able to view this page) The current approved bylaws can be found under the Home / About Us / Governance menu should you wish to compare the proposed changes with the current bylaws Please note that under our existing bylaws the quorum at all Annual and Special General Meetings of the Chapter shall be at least forty (40) members or 5% of the current Chapter membership (whichever is the lowest) in good standing, present (virtually in this instance). In order to change the bylaws a minimum of two-thirds (2/3rd) of those attending who a financial member of the Chapter and in good standing to be eligible to vote on these proposed changes. It is very important that you actively participate and that the minimum quorum is maintained throughout the meeting. For that reason (and as an added incentive), all of those who register and maintain their attendance for the duration of the meeting, will go into a draw and randomly chosen to receive a $500 gift voucher. All financial members are strongly encouraged to review these proposed changes PRIOR to the meeting to ensure optimal meeting flow on the night. Toastmasters International (TI) is a USA headquartered educational organisation that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. Through its thousands of member clubs, Toastmasters International offers a program of communication and leadership projects designed to help people learn the arts of speaking, listening, and thinking. This meetup group lists club meetings and events. We are a friendly, welcoming group who are interested in improving our public speaking and leadership skills. Whether your goal is to enhance your professional presentation skills, gain confidence in addressing an audience, we find that doing it in the company of like-minded people can be a lot of fun.
